A friend of mine asked me this question:

Can someone tell me the signs of Depression? Is there a difference between this and Bipolar? Please explain this to me. Also, does medication really help this?

I wrote about this, but I can repeat.

It is not difficult. So, signs of depression are:

  1. you can’t sleep or you sleep too much
  2. you can’t concentrate or find that previously easy tasks are now difficult
  3. you feel hopeless and helpless
  4. you can’t control your negative thoughts, no matter how much you try
  5. you have lost your appetite or you can’t stop eating
  6. you are much more irritable and short-tempered than usual
  7. you have thoughts that life is not worth living

And signs of bipolar are:

  1. Feeling unusually “high” and optimistic OR extremely irritable
  2. Unrealistic, grandiose beliefs about one’s abilities or powers
  3. Sleeping very little, but feeling extremely energetic
  4. Talking so rapidly that others can’t keep up
  5. Racing thoughts; jumping quickly from one idea to the next
  6. Highly distractible, unable to concentrate
  7. Impaired judgment and impulsiveness
  8. Acting recklessly without thinking about the consequences
  9. Delusions and hallucinations (in severe cases)

He different faces of bipolar disorder

  1. Bipolar I Disorder (mania or a mixed episode) – The classic manic-depressive form of the illness, characterized by at least one manic episode or mixed episode. Usually—but not always—Bipolar I Disorder also involves at least one episode of depression.
  2. Bipolar II Disorder (hypomania and depression) – In Bipolar II disorder, the person doesn’t experience full-blown manic episodes. Instead, the illness involves episodes of hypomania and severe depression.
  3. Cyclothymia (hypomania and mild depression) – Cyclothymia is a milder form of bipolar disorder. It consists of cyclical mood swings. However, the symptoms are less severe than full-blown mania or depression.

Medication could help it depends how bad it is and what you actually have, the best thing i can suggest is go to someone and have them asses you and only they can truly tell you what would be best for you.

I hope all goes well best of luck

I'm going through the same thing so if you need to talk you can message me
